準1は、writing が模範解答を３通り見れば、書けるようになってしまう現実があります。他方、1級は設問が中3レベルで、大人でも解答例を一生懸命に試験前に見直しています(英文を丸暗記してるみたい、想像)。論理展開が難しいんです、1級は語数が280語程度になるので。
2点目、英検1級の長文読解とリスニングは内容が学校で早くて中2で習う内容が出題される(配点比率39%)事実を踏まえることが求められます。
以上、2点を念頭におくと、準1で足りるのでは、と秘かに講師の私は思っています(苦笑)。
さて、アメリカ人なら、どう対応するか?

ネイティブが意外と好む答え、
Dragons are used to kids, I am sure the dragon won’t do me any harm. Therefore I would politely ask it to let me walk beside it. It without hesitation would agree. Walking right next to it to make my way home, I would give warm greetings and wish him a good day.
日本人としての答え(笑)、
We Japanese regard dragons as sacred. So a glance of it might freeze me. However, soon after I recognize his eyes caught me, I would clap my hands and pray. How privileged I am to encounter such a rare occasion.
平均的なアメリカ人の発想(笑)、答案で書くのは勇気と想像力要りますけど。
I would say to the dragon,”What are you doing here? Aren’t you lost?”
And would continue, “I don’t have the slightest idea where your home is but at least I can take you near your home.”
Plain talk 発想勝負の答案を期待される学校を前もって子どもに教えておく必要あるのを思い出しました。理解出来てない児童がほとんどなので念のため。
根拠 アメリカの大学の出願書類を書くときに、個性的なストーリーラインが有効です。英語で言うと、make your document standout.
